Have you ever written a PowerShell script? A function? An entire module? Why not share it with others! In this talk, I’ll discuss what you need to prepare and to upload your first package to the PowerShell Gallery. I’ll also take a look at automated testing and publishing using Azure DevOps.
The PowerShell Gallery is a central repository for PowerShell content, such as scripts, modules, and DSC resources. Microsoft publishes many of their official packages for their products and others from the community publish their self-written modules. Publishing a module to the Gallery takes your PowerShell skills to the next level as you need to configure some additional artifacts, such as help text and module manifests. I’ll walk through the steps for creating a manifest and testing publishing the module to the Gallery. After successfully publishing the package, I’ll take a look at how we can automate the testing and publishing using pipelines in Azure DevOps.
